CHALLENGE YOURSELF

When I was going through my brain injury rehab there were days I just wanted to clear my head and process some of my thoughts. Before the accident, I use to do this by running or going on a motorcycle ride. I wasn't able to use my normal coping mechanisms for about a year, which was frustrating.
Once I finished my rehabilitation I was excited to hit the pavement and start building my weakened muscles back up. I then found out I needed ankle surgery and about 4 more months of physical therapy.

So when we rang in the 2019 New Year I decided one of my resolutions was to run a 1/2 marathon. I called my friend Zack and asked if he would join me. We trained for the next couple of months. Each mile I ran I thanked my body and mind for an ability I once took for granted. I've never smiled when I ran, but that day I ran 13 miles with a huge grin and my best buddy by my side. Never stop pushing yourself.

Thank you Kori! It’s awesome that you’re starting to walk and hopefully enjoying some nice spring weather! I thought I might be setting myself up to fail with this run, but I figured if I set the goal high. If I couldn’t do the run, at least I pushed myself to try and even if I got 1 block it was more then I was able to do before. We always pushed ourselves to achieve cool things, somethings never change. Go team!
Get it girl! I think it’s the Mom in me but I have to tell you that I’m proud of you. You are one of the toughest chicks I know and you constantly inspire me. I just started getting myself going on walks again because like you said, it’s just a way I like to clear my head and reflect. I hope one day I will be up to doing a half marathon. ❤️
